Your Dorm Walls Are Still Blank: 5 Flags That Fix That
Move-in is done. The mini fridge is humming, the futon is where it's going to stay, and the shower shoes are already regrettable.
And the wall is still bare. Maybe you taped up a poster in week one and it curled off the cinder block by Thursday. That's not your fault — cinder block hates tape, RAs hate nails, and a 24x36 poster covers about as much of a dorm wall as a postage stamp.
A 3x5 ft flag covers roughly six times the area, hangs off four grommets instead of praying to adhesive, and packs flat in a duffel come May. Here are five from our dorm room flags collection that earn their wall space.
1. Good Roommates Don't Let You Do Stupid Things Alone
The one to hang above the futon. It's a mission statement, a warning to guests, and a running joke you'll be explaining until finals.
Also the safest bet if you're splitting wall space and haven't figured out your roommate's sense of humor yet. Nobody's ever been offended by loyalty.
2. This Dorm Smells Like Sex and Regret
Look, somebody's going to say it out loud in October. Might as well be the wall, and might as well be on your terms.
This is the one that gets photographed. Hang it where it's visible from the doorway and let it do the introductions for you.
3. Roommates Who Slay Together Stay Together
The group-chat flag. Works over a bed, behind a desk, or as the backdrop every single photo from your room ends up having in it.
If you're coordinating decor with a roommate instead of competing with them, this is the one to split.
4. Beer Pong Table Flag
Some flags are decor. This one is infrastructure.
Hang it on the wall the rest of the week, then pull it down and throw it over the table when the table is needed. It wipes off, which is more than can be said for the carpet.

5. Put It On My Dad's Tab
A financial philosophy. A cry for help. A flag.
Best hung somewhere your parents will see it on move-out day, ideally after the tuition check has cleared.
How to actually hang one without losing your deposit
Every flag has four metal grommets, two per short side, so you've got options that don't involve putting a hole in anything:
- Command strips through the grommets — the standard move, and fully reversible
- Push pins if your building allows them — the grommets take the strain instead of the fabric, so it won't tear out
- S-hooks or zip ties if there's a rail, lofted bed frame, or drop ceiling to work with
Hang it in either orientation — horizontal over a bed, vertical in a narrow strip of wall between closet and window. It works both ways.
One thing on timing
Every flag is printed to order, which is why the designs aren't the same six things everyone else is selling. It also means delivery runs 10–20 business days. So if you want it on the wall before Halloween, parents' weekend, or whatever's coming, order it now rather than the week of.
All of them are $19.99, 3x5 ft, on 100% polyester that won't crack or peel the way an iron-on does. Free shipping, no minimum.
